Is it possible to replace macbook pro core 2 duo processor with new i7 processor?
I have a late 2008 macbook pro and would like to know if i can replace the 2.8 ghz processor (65/45 pin although I do not know why there is a slash) with an i7 2.66 GHZ chip (45 pin)?
I know that the sockets are different but I was wondering if the connectivity would be affected by it or not since the two sockets are still similar.
No - it's not upgradeable.
MacBook Pros don't use sockets - their processors are directly attached to the system boards, and are thus non-upgradeable. The sockets for Core 2 mobile processors and Core i# processors are slightly different, but that's all it takes to make upgrades impossible.
The 65/45 refers to the manufacturing technology (width of circuit wires in nm), not the pins or socket.
