Airport Friendly Bags
Recently, the Transportation Security Administration answered a multitude of business men (and women's) request, by allowing travelers to leave their laptops in check-point friendly laptop bags, which in turn gets rid of security officials having to personally check each and every bag at airport check in terminals. These special check in bags are produced with special materials that allow x-ray machines to scan the contents of the bag. To ensure a hassle free check in, follow the tips below to be certain your bag is of the correct specifications.
Airport check in friendly laptop bags that have been recently manufactured come from the factory embroidered with a log, or note, stating that they are check-point friendly. However, other specifications should be taken into consideration before making a final purchase.
Based on the regulations posted by the Transportation Security Administration, if laptop bags are going to be check in friendly, they must not exceed 16" high, 24" wide, and 36" in length. When an individual is out shopping for a bag to carry their laptop in while traveling, make sure to abide by these measurements, while also finding a bag that is personally comfortable to carry around and travel with.
Once the traveler has arrived at the airport, check through the laptop bag and be certain that bag doesn't contain anything other than the laptop and its accessories. Items such as pens, pencils, loose coins, and paperclips may obstruct the view of the laptop when sent through the x-ray machine, set off metal detectors, and will more than likely cause the security guard to ask you to remove them from the laptop messenger bag, which is what the traveler is trying to avoid in the first place.
Once you have made your way through the initial security entrance and are ready to place the laptop bag and its contents onto the conveyer belt, be sure that the straps or handles of the bag in question are not placed or draped across the top of the actual bag being scanned, and this could potentially obstruct the security official's view of the contents of the bag.
